    In this Address, I reflect on the journey of AFAM with regard to its past, present and future. As a new scholarly community, AFAM is called to the sacred society. Its future therefore should be based on the use of the legitimacy associated with that calling to enact its strategic role – facilitating transformation of African societies – by assuming the paramount duty of parrhesia.

  • Entrepreneurship in Agricultural Communities of Africa

    The majority of Africans live in the bottom of economic pyramid (Acheampong and Esposito, 2014). This has contributed to the prevalence of hunger and malnourishment in much of Africa that has persisted from 2010 and worsened in recent times (Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), 2018). The prevalence of undernourishment in Africa is approximately 22.8% which is about 12% worse off from the global average of 10.8%. In terms of food insecurity, about 53.1% of Africans face food insecurity and 22% worse off from the global average of 25.4% (United Nations, 2019).

    Sinergie and Sima’s common aim is to develop the contribution of Italian scholars to the international debate on management issues. Since 2016, Sinergie and Sima work together to organize the annual conference, a scientific event based on the experience that Sinergie has matured over 30 years of activity and on Sima’s academic network.   • POSTPONEMENT OF AFAM 2022 CONFERENCE

    The continuing Covid-19 pandemic poses considerable challenges for effectively organizing our usually small interactive conferences with their hallmarks of lively intellectual exchanges in a supportive and non-threatening environment. Given the uncertainties about when the pandemic will be tamed and normal life resumed, the AFAM executive team (in consultation with the German University in Cairo’s Local Organizing Committee) has decided to postpone the scheduled AFAM 2022 conference to January 2023. We are grateful to the German University in Cairo for agreeing to host the rescheduled conference.
